Steve Heinrich, SAMS® AMS® | Principal Marine Surveyor

Marine Surveys

My role and responsibility is to protect your interests, and all information from the vessel inspection and survey report is confidential and available only to you.

Protecting your investment. Your marine survey will provide you with insight and knowledge allowing you to make an informed decision regarding your vessel purchase. The survey will include a Fair Market Value that is based on recently sold vessels of the same or similar manufacturer, model and year, other vessels currently for sale and vessel values from proprietary databases derived from thousands of boat sales. My surveys describe the condition of each system on the vessel in plain terms with photographs of important Findings.

All Fair Market Value appraisals follow the guidelines of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. Marine survey reports are written according to the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors Recommended Survey Report Content.

Protecting you, your family, and friends. Safety and maintenance issues that need to be corrected to allow safe operation of the vessel, compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, are clearly identified in the survey, along with non-working systems that will interfere with an enjoyable day on the water.

Survey reports will identify violations of Code of Federal Regulations 33 and 46, US Coast Guard regulations, state laws, and safety issues that need to be corrected to comply with recommendations from the American Boat and Yacht Council and National Fire Protection Association.

All vessel surveys and inspections are non-intrusive. The vessel is inspected without the removal of parts or disassembly.

My credentials and experience. I am an Accredited Marine Surveyor, AMS #1415, with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, an American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) Certified Marine Corrosion Advisor, ABYC Certified Marine Electrical Advisor and ABYC Certified Standards Technician, and a licensed insurance adjuster in Florida and Minnesota. I graduated as Valedictorian of my class at Chapman School of Seamanship Yacht and Small Craft Surveying and have advanced training in Marine Diesel Engines and Marine Claims Investigation. My undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Graduate Degree in Biophysical Sciences equip me with the skills required to understand sophisticated vessel systems and new marine technology.
